BOOK REVIEW : TEACHER'S PET BY GRAEME WINTON

The short story Teacher’s Pet by Graeme Winton. Teacher’s pet talk has thriller, mysterius genre. This story talk about Mr Leakey is murdered.. In the beginning he called electrician the named Dave Gardener. Mr Leakey planed to kill Dave in the floorboard. And it works!
In the morning, Karen Gardener, dave’s wife come to Mr Leakey’s house. She felt something wrong about Mr Leakey. So she decide to looking for Dave. She knew that Mr. Leakey was evil because he killed his friend when he was school. But she is not report the police. She must knew one thing that psycophat is genius.



I  definitely loved read this story. In the beginning part I don’t feel anything wrong with the first character. Mr Leakey like the goodman so Dave don’t know something wrong about him. But in the middle until the last part you can feel how the first character is psychopath. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened to the character. Because in the last story, the author just tell about Dave and Karen laughed because they stuck in the floorboard. I wanna know what happen after that. Maybe they find the way to save themselves.

While I definitely recommended this story to other readers especially to teenage or adult readers. Because this story isn’t good for kids or people  who hate mysterious genre.

In this story, we can learn how we always be careful of others. Not always the first impression is right. Like Mr Leakey, maybe we can see, he is only the good man but inside he is murdered. He hide his victim in the floorboard and let them dead in the dark. We must still worry about a new person. We don’t know about what they think or they planned. Keep the phone in your socket and maybe you can have message before go to in another place with your friend or family.

And we must have problem solvig.  In this case, Karen should report to the police. Karen knew what the devil Mr Leakey. She is too careless. When your love have a problem case with psycopath, you should report to the police asking help. Maybe this will be work. And they can save and live happily forever.


You cannot expected this story from the tittle. The Teacher’s Pet set goes into amazing level of details. Especially the readers who loved mystery, thriller, and psychopath story. The first time I read the tittle, this story must be romance or kind of kid genre. So this is unprecditable. Overall, this story is detail and good. The author tell the plot was so smooth and make the readers more interesting to read the story. Greame Winton is the best author and I capture The Teacher’s Pet is the best short story.
